The Sabaots/Sebeis are one of the ten sub-ethnic groups of the Kalenjin tribe. The Sabaots are the authentic Kalenjin tribe and hence they are commonly referred as "Kapkugo" by the other Kalenjin sub-tribes. They live around Mt Elgon slopes both in Uganda and Kenya. In Kenya, Sabaots live in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia(Kitale) Counties. In Uganda the Sabaot or Sebei live Kapchorwa, Kween and Bukwa districts. The Sabaot community is comprised of six sub-dialects namely:
1. Bookok (Book),
2. Somek,
3. Mosopishok (Mosop),
4. Konjak (Kony),
5. Bong'omek (Bungoma),
6. Sabinjak (Sebei)
